SECOND RUGBY TEST THE TEAMS FOR TO-DAY MITCHELL AND WARD INCLUDED (United Press Association.) Dunedin, September 11. The prospects for to-morrow’s second Test to decide the fate of the Bledisloe Cup, which is the symbol of Rugby supremacy between Australia and New Zealand, are at present excellent as the indications are that the weather will be fine and the ground in perfect order. After the close result of the first Test critics are somewhat at a loss in selecting the winner, this being contributed to on account of both teams being sorely pressed in last Wednesday’s matches at Timaru and Oamaru respectively. The Australians are very confident in their ability to retain the trophy, more especially as Storey is again available as full-back. The New Zealand team has undergone three changes, Mitchell replacing Caughey as centre and Gillies going in as first five-eighth. Griffiths moves to second five-eighth. In the forwards Ward (Southland) replaces McKenzie owing to the latter’s leg injury at Wellington. The teams chosen are:— NEW ZEALAND. Full-back.—H. R. Pollock. Three-quarters.—G. F. Hart, N. A. Mitchell, J. M. Watt. Five-eighths.—J. L. Griffiths, C. C. Gillies. Half-back.—B. S. Sadler. Front row.—E. Jackson, W. E. Hardy, D. Dalton. Middle row.—J. Wells, R. R. King. S. T. Reid, R. R. Ward. Back row.—J. G. Rankin. AUSTRALIA. Full-back.—K. P. Storey. Three-quarters.—A. D. McLean, W. McLaughlin, R. Rankin, J. D. Kelaher. Five-eighth.—L. S. Lewis. Half-back.—E. de C. Gibbons. Front row.—R. J. Walden (captain), E. T. Bonis, J. H. Malone. Middle row.—F. E. Hutchinson, W. G. S. White, O. L. Bridle, R. L. F. Kelly. Back row.—A. J. Hodgson. ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL OTAGO v. SOUTHLAND. TO-DAY’S GAME AT RUGBY PARK. The return Association football match for the Keach Cup will be played at Rugby Park to-day between Otago and Southland. Both teams are capable of playing fast, open football and a good exhibition of the code should be seen. It is now nine years since an association football match was played at Rugby Park. Programmes will be issued and the players are numbered. The curtainraiser between Otago and Southland third grade teams will start at 1.45 p.m. and the main match at 2.45.
