In the United States tennis championships at Forest Hills, D. Budge and F. A. Parker have reached the semi-finals of their bracket in the men’s singles defeating McDiarmid and Mangin respectively, the scores being, 6—4, 6—3, 6—2 and 10—12, 6 —o, 4 —6, 6 —l, 6—3. In the women’s singles Miss Helen Jacob’s defeated Miss Gussie Raegener 6—l, 6—o and Miss Helen Perdersen defeated Miss Dorothy Bundy 6—3, 4—6, 6—4. WRESTLING SAVOLDI DEFEATS WOODS. (United Press Association.) Hastings, September 11. Savoldi defeated Woods by two straight falls in a professional wrestling contest this evening after a colourful bout. Savoldi secured the first fall m the fifth round with dropkicks. Woods was groggy when he came out of his corner for the next round and another dropkick finished him. In the preliminary professional bout Mark Antunovich (Wellington) drew with Herb Brinson (Hawke’s Bay). There were no falls.
