THE CASE F r '"' ’"HE BOARD. At a meeting a. . . on Thursday evening the case for the retention of the Southland electric power scheme by the board was presented by Mr J. T. Carswell, chairman of the board, Mr S. Rice, the Tapanui representative on the board, and Mr W. J. McKenzie, member of the board for the surrounding district. The Mayor, Mr J. S. Varcoe, presided. A motion of confidence in the board and favouring the retention of the scheme by it was carried unanimously. MEETING AT MATAURA. There was an attendance of 10 at Mataura last evening when addresses in support of the retention of the electric power scheme by the board were delivered by Messrs W. McChesney and W. Grieve. The Mayor, Mr J. Buchanan, presided.
