HUMAN BONES IN MINE SHAFT

DEPOSITED BY GRAVE-DIGGER. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Sydney, September 11. The presence of human bones in a mine shaft at Bingara has been explained. They were put there by a grave-digger, who once cared for a cemetery' a quarter of a mile from the mine and who is now dead.

A previous message stated:—‘‘There is considerable excitement in the small northern country village of Bingara. owing to the discovery of five human skulls, some human bones and a baby's perambulator at the bottom of a disused mine shaft, 80ft in depth. The. remains had apparently been there for a good many years. Detectives arc of the opinion that the bodies may possibly have been thrown down the shaft instead’ of being buried in the usual way in the cemetery, which is close by, and therefore they are not inclined to the theory of foul play. The remains are believed to be those of women.and children.”
