The Port liner Port Fairy finished her Southland loading for the English market yesterday and sailed in the late afternoon for Oamaru. Wright, Stevenson and Co., Ltd., have received advice from the Yamashita Risen Kaisha Company has arranged for its steamers to return from New Zealand io Japan direct, instead of via Australia, as at present. The direct service will begin with the Manju Maru, which is to clear Japan on October 26 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, being due at Auckland on November 16. The final port in most cases will be Dunedin, the vessels discharging and loading on the way down the coast. Tlie Union Company’s motor ship Limerick is now to dock at Wellington before leaving for New Plymouth, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Australia to complete discharge of her Pacific Coast cargo. The vessel has a wire twisted round one of her propellers, and will go on the floating dock as soon as the Awatea comes off to have it removed. , , , Tlie naval tanker Nucula is reported to have left Los Angeles on September 3 for Auckland, where she is due about September 27. Cabled advice has been received by the Shaw, Savill Company that the Raranga cleared Montevideo on Monday. She left Wellington on August 14 for London, via Cape Horn and Montevideo. After having been delayed for several days, the Port Line motor-ship Port Hobart left Auckland on Tuesday for Wellington. She arrived there on Thursday to discharge the local portion of her Liverpool cargo and is to leave there again to-day for Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete. The Union Steam Ship Company advises that its new trans-Tasman liner Awatea will now leave Wellington for Sydney, via Auckland, at 11 p.m. on September 15. This alteration in the sailing time has been made to suit the convenience of delegates to the Empire Chambers of Commerce Congress. THE CAPE HORN. The Union Steam Ship Company advises that the Cape Hom is scheduled to leave Vancouver on December 10 for New Zealand ports, Including Bluff. She is due at Auckland, her first New Zealand port, on January 21 and at Bluff about February 10. THE MOTOR SHIP KAURI. The Union Company has received cabled advice that its new intercolonial motor ship Kauri cleared Greenock last Saturday for New Zealand, via the Cape of Good Hope and South Australian ports en route to New Zealand, and is due in the Dominion about the middle of November. Captain W. D. Cameron is bringing out the Kauri, which on her trials averaged 121/2 knots. A vessel of 2400 tons gross, the Kauri was built by Alexander Stephen and Sons, Linthouse, and has been specially designed for the intercolonial timber and general cargo trade. She has a deadweight carrying capacity of 3000 tons on a draught of 18ft, and her service speed will be 11 knots. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
