WOMEN’S HOCKEY.

To the Editor.

Sir, —Once again the Eastern Southland champions have placed Southland on the map by winning the K Cup. Their performance in the recent competitions is a very meritorious one, all seven matches being won and only two goals scored against . them. No doubt thej will receive a big reception at Gore and I think Southland generally should be given an opportunity to see them in action and show its appreciation of their fine work. With this object in view and also as a means of raising funds towards next year s competitions I would suggest that a match between Southland and Eastern be arranged either as a curtain raiser on September 16 when Southland meet Australia or on September 23 against Wellington. As both the Rugby matches are on Wednesday it might be better to choose' a Saturday when the basketball champions could also participate. — Yours, etc., SPORT. Bluff, September 10, 1936.
