The Book Club

“Round the World in Eighty Days,” by Jules Verne should be enjoyed by Little Southlanders from ten upwards. A man takes a wager that he will go round the world in eighty days. Together with his servant, he has many thrilling adventures. He at length reaches England again to find he is too late. He does not know he gained a day on the way round the world. When the servant told him the next day, he rushes to the house where he was to meet his friends at a quarter to nine. He walks in just as the clock chimes, and wins the bet. —Sent in by Cousin Marie Poppelwell.
