OBITUARY
MR ROBERT LEE. The death occurred unexpectedly on Wednesday at his residence, Anderson’s Bay, of Mr Robert Lee, who was well known in commercial and engineering circles (says The Otago Daily Times). He was 51 years of age. Mr Lee received his early education at the Waitaki Boys’ High School and later entered the Otago University, where he took his mining degrees. After that, he was associated with the Railways Department for a year or two, and he then joined the Kaitangata Coal Company, of which he assumed the managership on the death of his father. He held that position until his resignation seven or eight years ago when he became a consulting engineer and was interested more particularly in gold mining companies, including the Okarito Company and the Clutha Dredging Company. Several years ago he visited Victoria and reported to the Government on the State coal fields. He was the New Zealand representative of F. W. Payne and Son, and was a director of a number of public companies, including the New Zealand Express Company, Hogg and Co., and several mining concerns. Apart from his commercial interests, Mr Lee took no active part in public affairs, but in his private life he revealed engaging qualities which gained him the esteem of a great many friends. He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters. MR H. K. WILKINSON. (United Press Association.) Dunedin, September 10. The death has occurred of Mr H. K. Wilkinson, aged 75.
