Bluff THE BOROUGH COUNCIL
MONTHLY MEETING At the monthly meeting of the Bluff Borough Council, his Worship the Mayor (the Rev. A. E. Waite) presided over the following: Crs J. H. Doyle, A. C. McKillop, A. E. Budd, H. W. Newman, W. P. Butler, W. L. Johnstone and O. F. Metzger. Reference was made by the Mayor to the deaths of Messrs P. Batcheler and E. Edwards, of Bluff, and W. Haberfield, of Greenhills. On the motion of his Worship, seconded by Cr Doyle, it was decided to extend the council’s sympathy _to the relatives, the motion being carried in the usual manner. The secretary of the Bluff Fire Brigade wrote requesting the council to sanction the procuring of a medal for Cr Budd on the completion of five years’ service in the brigade. The request was granted, the Mayor, on behalf of the council, congratulating Cr Budd. PROPOSED AMBULANCE For some time a suggestion to have an ambulance stationed at Bluff has been discussed, many holding the opinion that the nature of the work carried out at the port justified the outlay. The matter was lengthily considered by the Borough Council, the Mayor asking for expressions of opinion.
