SOUTHLAND ASSOCIATION. MAIN COMMITTEE MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the main committee of the Southland War Funds’ Association, there were present: Messrs H. J. Farrant (in the chair), T. Pryde (Invercargill), C. Bennet (Gore), J. S. A. McDougall (Bluff), D. Macpherson (Waianiwa), J. Doherty (Winton), R. H. Scott (Lumsden) and the Rev. J. Chisholm (R.S.A., Invercargill). A statement of the 'approximate financial position was presented as follows: On investment, £14,700; outstanding advances, £5OlB 9/10; on current account, £lBl 18/7; receipts since last meeting, National War Funds Council donation, £63; refunds, £57 0/2; totalling £l2O 0/2; expenditure over the same period, relief grants, £253 1/6; advances, £6O 7/8; travelling expenses, £2 11/6; rental, £5 8/4; petty cash, £5; telephone, £6 11/3; general, £79 7/1; totalling £412 7/4; excess of expenditure over receipts, £292 7/2.

Thirteen letters of appreciation and thanks were received from various recipients of assistance. The report of the emergency committee was reviewed and referred cases disposed of, after which new applications were considered and dealt with.
