Stewart Island
FISHING INDUSTRY The fishing industry is still inconvenienced by the bad weather. So far no fishing has been done this month, which means that for the last two and a-half months the men have been able to earn money on only three or four days. The position is getting serious, and hopes are held that the Government will begin some form of public works on the Island. PERSONAL Miss Jean Marshall, the newly appointed infant mistress at the Halfmoon Bay School, has arrived and started her duties when the school opened after the holidays. Miss Marshall is taking the place of Miss Major, who was transferred to the North Island.
