WINTON DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.
To the Editor.
Sir, —Through your paper may I express the gratitude of many residents of Winton and surrounding districts to the gentlemen who have given their knowledge, time and work in carrying out a beautifying scheme in Winton’s main street. The example set by our rector at the Winton District High School is one that is deserving great praise. This gentleman came into our midst but a short time ago, yet he has left his mark on the school grounds, to be admired by coming generations. One cannot but feel proud to point out to visitors to our town our school grounds, which are indeed very beautiful. The parents I know ar§ very grateful to Mr Caigou for all he has done, and one and all realize that a more competent, tactful and conscientious teacher would be hard to find. Yet the school lacks the assistance of a live wire committee. Why, may I ask, is it under five commissioners, some of whom have not any children attending the school? I say, get busy parents, wake up to the fact that your children are being taught to appreciate Nature’s beauties, as well as other subjects. See that our rector gets the co-operation of both committee and parent, for without both it is hard to succeed. —Yours, etc., PARENT. Winton, September 9.
