OBITUARY
MR GEORGE LAUCHLAN. (United Press Association.) Wellington, August 6. The death occurred suddenly of Mr George Lauchlan, aged 63, assistant general manager and distribution engineer of the Municipal Electricity Department. The deceased would have retired from the city service next year, after nearly 50 years at work in the development and advancement of Wellington. The deceased was very prominent in rowing, having been manager of the New Zealand crew that went to Australia in 1935. For many years he was a member of the New Zealand Rowing Association Council, and for the past two years its chairman. Mr Lauchlan was Chief of the Wellington Caledonian Society and a member of the executive of the Association of Scottish Societies, as well as taking a prominent part in the guidance and activities of St. Andrew’s Burns Club. He was also president of the Central Club and a vicepresident of the Scottish Wanderers’ Football Club. MR W. AH KET. CHINESE BARRISTER. (United Press Assn- —Telegraph Copyright.)
