THE EAST COAST RAILWAY

CONSTRUCTION OF VIADUCT. (United Press Association.) Napier, July 31. Construction is about to begin on the huge Mohaka Viaduct, an important link in the East Coast railway. The engineering staff, skilled men and materials have assembled in the locality and preliminary preparations are well in hand. The structure will

span over 900 feet and will be more than 300 feet high. It is estimated that about 1800 tons of steel will be required. Tunnelling operations have been commenced at the Gisborne end and it is hoped that before the end of the year nearly 1000 men will be employed.
