AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE POLICY
CO-OPERATION OF STATES DESIRED. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Sydney, July 31. The Melbourne correspondent of The Sydney Morning Herald says that the Federal Government will seek the active co-operation of the State Governments in its defence policy at the Premiers’ Conference in Adelaide next month. This course, it is believed, has been decided upon as a result of confidential despatches from the British Government containing a survey of the European situation and seeking the cooperation of Australia in a scheme of Empire defence.
