CIVIC BAND
CORONATION CARNIVAL CONTINUED Brisk business was again done at the Civic Band’s coronation carnival which was continued in the Victoria Hall last night. There was a large attendance and the various stalls were besieged I with intending buyers. Interest in the carnival is mounting each night and when the final financial returns are counted on Saturday, the closing night, the funds of the band should have received a healthy uplift. One of the features last night was a special dancing and acrobatic entertainment provided by the pupils of Miss Renee Ward, while Mr and Mrs Matthews gave musical items which were much enjoyed. A special feature to-night will be a tug-of-war competition, the draw being as follows: Redan A v. Awarua; Watts & Grieve v. Georgetown. Late entries will, by special request, be received up till eight o’clock to-night at the hall. Redan B meets Southern on Friday night. The following competitions were decided last night: Central Princess—Box of chocolates, J. Wilkinson, c/o Craig Printing Company. North PrincessBunny doll, Mrs Dey; pyjama set, “Crib,” 271 Herbert street.
