Southland Women’s Club

PLAY-READING CIRCLE. Last evening members of the PlayReading Circle of the Southland Women’s Club presented three oneact plays. The casts were as follows:— “When The Bells Rang” (Olive Conway)—Joyce, Mrs W. M. B. Veitch; Alice, Mrs H. R. Gibson; Marion, Mrs G. R. Milward; Rex, Mrs J. G. Macdonald; Betty, Mrs J. S. Nelson. “The Man of Ideas” (Miles Maleson) —William Goodman, Mrs E. K. Mills; Frank Cartwright, Mrs J. G. Macdonald; Alice Cartwright, Miss E. Robertson; The Man. Mrs W. H. Coltman. "Back to Adam” (Harold Brighouse)—Scene 1., Sir Jaspar, Miss M. T. Crofts; Rupert, Miss E. Robertson; Clarissa, Mrs H. R. Gibson; Lady Mallory (Lucy), Mrs G. I. Moffett; Scene 11., Sir William, Mrs T. F. Gilkison; Richard, Mrs J. G. Macdonald; Angela, Mrs *5. K. Mills; Charlotte, Mrs C. Dickens; Scene 111., Sir Arthur, Mrs Copeland; Bertram, Mrs G. R. Milward; Lady Mallory, Mrs Roy Anderson; Constance, Mrs J. S. Nelson. Mrs G. H. Uttley read the choruses of all the plays. Mesdames H. A. Brumby and T. A. Clark were in charge of the supper arrangements, and Mrs A. G. Seddon was responsible for the decorations. BRIDGE CIRCLE. At the meeting of the Bridge Circle on Monday evening the prizes were won as follows: Highest score for Auction, Mrs D. Cochrane; highest score for Contract, Mrs E. A. Clark; hidden number, Miss Waymouth.
