OLD TIMERS’ CONCERT A Grand Old Time Concert was given by the Invercargill Old Timers’ Concert Party in the Waimahaka Hall in aid of the Waimahaka School Funds. There was a good attendance. Encores were the order of the evening. Mrs P. Macnamara was the official accompaniste and Mr E. W. Wright stagemanager. Praise is also due to the secretary, Mr A. W. Baldwin. Credit is due to Mrs Paton for the good work she has done in organizing the party. The programme was as follows:— Bagpipe selections, Sen. Corpl. Sutherland and Piper J. McKenzie; Songs, Mr A. Baldwin; siffleuse selection, Mrs O. Paton; dance, Mr T. Howard; songs, Mrs L. Clode; humorous song, Mr E. W. Wright; musical duets, piano and bagpipe, Mrs Macnamara and Piper McKenzie; duets, Mrs L. Clode and Mrs O. Paton; dances, Miss Rosie Tomlins; humorous comedy, Mrs O. Paton, Messrs E. W. Wright and A. W. Baldwin; violin selection, Mr T. Howard; humorous duet, Messrs E. W. Wright and A. W. Baldwin. Before the conclusion Mr A. Mitchell, chairman of the school committee, thanked all those present for their attendance and also thanked the party for coming out to give such an enjoyable evening and called on the audience to give three cheers for the party. Mr E. W. Wright suitably replied. BASKETBALL At a meeting of the Basketball Club Mrs Atkinson presided over a good attendance of members. The secretary was instructed to write and thank Mrs Knott who is leaving the district, for the interest she had taken in the club since coming to Waimahaka. The local team now has seven points to its credit in the B Grade Competition, having played three games, won two, drawn one, and won one by default.
