Riversdale PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
CONCERT IN AID OF FUNDS A concert was held in the hall by Riversdale and visiting performers. The proceeds were in aid of the funds of the Presbyterian Church. The accompaniments were played by Miss E. McKay, Mrs R. Edwards and Mr B. Matthews. The following contributed items: Pianoforte solo, Mr B. Matthews; vocal solos, Misses F. White, R. Mahon, V. Bird, Mr P. Tait and Mr J. Dawson; piano-accordion solos, Mr J. McKee; elocutionary items, Miss U. Heenan and Mr J. Harper; mouth organ selections, Mr R. Gerken. A playette, “The Family Group,” was staged by Mesdames Edwards, McKay, Garvey, Ryder and Misses Garvey and Cameron, of Waikaia. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE Miss Woods presided over a good attendance at a meeting of the Women’s Institute. The motto for the month was “Learn to disagree without being disagreeable.” The roll call was “Uses of kerosene.” It was decided to order a parcel of Christmas goods from Montecillo Home. Mrs L. Cody and Miss Dillon were appointed visiting members for the month.
Donations to defray the' expense of more cups and saucers were made by Mrs Tayles, sen. and Miss Woods. The competition for the best bed jacket was won bj' Mrs G. Lynch, out of three entries.
The hostesses were Mesdames McEwan, J. Clark, McLean, C. Phillips, Misses McMath and Windle. EUCHRE TOURNAMENT
An unusually large number of people attended the Riversdale Hockey Club’s euchre tournament. The winners were Mr G. Green and Miss M. Dillon, Mr F. Windle and Mrs W. Miller being second. Mrs J. R. Dunn won the prize for the lucky number. The prizes were donated by Mrs W. Mortimer. A dance was held music being supplied by Mr and Mrs L. Cody, Mrs Matthews and Messrs R. Simmons and S. Bickerstaff. Mr E. Watt was master of ceremonies.
