CANTERBURY PRODUCE MARKETS NO INTEREST IN POTATOES. (United Press Association.) Christchurch, July 21. All interest in the potato market appears to have died for the present, and business is almost at a standstill. Quotations from southern ports of 80/- have stifled business here, and, in any case, there appears to be no demand from the north. Fairly heavy consignment lots have gone forward, and farmers are offering more freely, but there is little interest. The nominal quotation for white is £2 10/- to £2 15/- a ton, on trucks, and for Dakotas about 7/6 more. The price of pollard has been lowered by 10/- a ton, but bran is unchanged. Bran is worth £4 15/- a ton and pollard £5 15/-, for large sizes. Fowl wheat is a little firmer, and good whole is worth 4/2, a slight improvement. There is no great demand, but sellers are not disposed to come any lower. . . A certain amount of chaff is being shipped to the North Island, and the market until to-day, when, there was an indication of a slight easing, has been firm. Oats are also steady, with no great trade. THE WOOL MARKET BRADFORD QUIETER. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, July 20. The Bradford wool market is quieter after last week’s substantial buying. Top-makers are well placed for their present orders, and prices are firm. FOREIGN EXCHANGES (British Official Wireless.)
