HIGH EXCHANGE RATE

Alternative To Be Provided (United Press Association.) Wellington, July 4. Interviewed to-day, the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) stated that the high exchange rate would be dealt with. He emphasized that the Government’s plans were to provide a stable foundation for the standard of living of New Zealanders and there could be no stable foundation other than that based on what the country produced. The exchange rate was not to be dealt with until the Government was in a position to provide an alternative and that was guaranteed prices for all forms of exported products. That was not a thing that could be done overnight.
