TRAGIC DEATH

Fall From Moving Train ELDERLY WOMAN KILLED (United Press Association.) Dunedin, July 5. A shocking accident occurred at the Mosgiel Railway Station yesterday afternoon when an elderly woman named Mrs Jessie Renton, 80 years of age, fell between the platform and the 5.15 p.m. train for Dunedin and was killed instantaneously. There were no witnesses to the accident but it is thought that Mrs Renton, who had entered a carriage to say goodbye to a friend, endeavoured to step from the carriage platform when the train began to move and fell on to the rails. Her body was shockingly mutilated and identification was possible- only by the clothing. Deceased, who was a widow, resided with her sister, Mrs Robertson, of East Taieri. An inquest will be opened to-morrow morning.
