CANADA SUPPORTS MOVEMENT. (United Press Assn. —Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Ottawa, June 18. The Canadian delegates to the September meeting of the League of Nations will be instructed to support the movement for the lifting of sanctions. The Prime Minister (Mr W. L. Mackenzie King) announced in the House of Commons that Canada’s policy had been that sanctions should be applied, but it had reserved the right for Parliament to speak before military sanctions were applied. The Government took special steps to see that the Canadian nickel did not reach Italy, but it had been a difficult matter, because of indirect shipments to the United Kingdom and the United States. “MADNESS TO REMAIN A MEMBER” MR DE VALERA’S CONDEMNATION. The President of the Executive Council (Mr Eamon de Valera) declared in the Dail Eireann that sanctions had failed and must go, adding that the League of Nations no longer commanded the confidence of the people of the world and it would be madness to remain a member of it. ABANDONMENT FAVOURED BY AUSTRALIA. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Canberra, June 19. The Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons) announced to-night that instructions had been sent to the Resident Minister in London (Mr S. M. Bruce) to declare in favour of the abandonment of sanctions when the League meets on June 30.
