Mr H. Stevens, of the clerical staff of New Zealand Railways, Bluff, has been advised of his transfer to Auckland. Mr R. Ferris, of Invercargill, has been admitted to membership of the New Zealand Society of Accountants with the status of A.R.A.N.Z. Mr W. J. Polson, M.P., Dominion president of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, will arrive in Invercargill next Friday. He will address a public meeting in Victoria Hall .that evening; Mi- F. G. Nind, Chief Postmaster at Invercargill, will begin his annual leave next Wednesday. He will be relieved by Mr G. Clark, relieving Chief Postmaster, who will arrive in Invercargill on Monday from Gisborne. Mr D. W. Stalker, of Invercargill, has been appointed the Southland secretary for both the Otago and Southland Shop Assistants’ Union and the Otago and Southland Woollen Mills Union. The appointment was made by Mr W. Batchelor, of Dunedin, who formerly held both positions for the two provinces. The death occurred on Thursday evening of Mr W. F. Morrison, aged 48, secretary of Messrs Armstrong, Springhall, Limited. The deceased was a Fellow of the New Zealand Society of Accountants and also of the London and Australian Societies. He was for many years a member of the Commercial Travellers’ Club. He is survived bv his widow and two sons. —Wellington Press Association telegram. The executive members of the Southland Employers’ Association met yesterday afternoon in the Federal tea lounge to say goodbye to Mr G. R. Cooper, who is leaving Invercargill today to live in Oamaru. Mr A. le H. Hoyles made reference to the excellent work done by Mr Cooper in the interest of employers throughout Southland during his term as secretary of the association. Other members also spoke in appreciation of the duties well and faithfully carried out by Mr Cooper, and all extended their best wishes for many happy years to Mr and Mrs Cooper in their retirement. Mr Cooper, in reply, said he had made many friends in Southland and had enjoyed the work of the association. He would always have very pleasant memories of the time he had spent in Southland.
