SLEPT IN MOTOR CAR

Missing Children Found NONE THE WORSE FOR EXPERIENCE After having been reported missing for ovei- 24 hours, three young children were found by their father in Ythan street yesterday afternoon. All were unhurt and none the worse for having slept out all night. The children, Helen Shanks, aged eight, and her brothers, Gordon and Colin, aged seven and five respectively, left their home at 82 Conon Street about 12.45 p.m. on Thursday to return to the South School for the afternoon. When they failed to put in an appearance at home again about tea time the parents became anxious and later in the evening they were reported to the police as missing. Several friends assisted in a search for the children, but it was not until the afternoon of yesterday that Mr Shanks found them. The story' they told their parents was that they had been playing in an old motor car in Ythan street on their way home from school on Thursday and had fallen asleep. When they awoke it was pitch dark and they had then been afraid to return home.

Mrs Shanks, when seen by a reporter last night, said that she wished to express thanks to all who had assisted in the search for the children.
