Fog held up the Queen Mary in the Channel and she anchored off Cherbourg at 9.15 a.m. Her official time from the Ambrose Light to Cherbourg was lllhr 15min, the average speed being 28.74 knots. The distances covered in each of 23 hours during her crossing and in the final period were: 621 miles, 679 miles, 670 miles, 679 miles and 549 miles. The Queen Mary entered Southampton Docks at 3.15 p.m. and was beautifully handled. The first passengers disembarked within fifteen minutes.
