CHAMPION GUN DOG TRIALS. At a recent meeting of the Southland Kennel Club the president reported that the plant was on its way to be completely overhauled and painted and that all arrangements for the annual show to be held on July 10 and 11 were practically completed. Mr W. Henderson, of Dunedin, was appointed judge of all breeds. At a meeting of the Field Trial Committee final arrangements were made for the South Island champion gun dog trials to be held on June 23. The water trial would be held at the Black bridge, West Plains, commencing at 9 a.m. and the land trial on the Beatrice street grounds at 2 p.m. The dog gaining the highest aggregate points in the open classes in the two events would be awarded by the New Zealand Kennel Club the gun dog championship of the South Island. Mr A. E. Seeker, ot Christchurch, had been appointed judge of all events. It was stated that members of the club were now busy preparing their dogs for the Dunedin fanciers show to be held in Dunedin this week. At least 12 dogs would go from Invercargill.
