SOUTHLAND FORECAST. (Special to The Times.) Wellington, June 10. Following is the Dominion Observatory’s special weather forecast for Southland :— Moderate to strong south-westerly winds. Weather cold and changeable, with passing showers at first, but improving. Some sharp frosts inland. Seas rough. Following is the Dominion forecast: — Weather cold and changeable, with passing showers in most districts, but conditions gradually improving from the westward. General Situation.—A depression is moving eastwards off New Zealand and an anti-cyclone is approaching across the Tasman Sea. Winds.—Moderate to strong southwesterly to southerly, of gale force on parts of the East Coast, but gradually decreasing. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rough about Foveaux Strait and rather rough to rough north of Farewell Spit and south of East Cape, elsewhere moderate; eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to strong southerly winds and rather rough seas, but wind and sea soon moderating. Heavy rain fell in Invercargill yesterday and the weather was unsettled throughout the day. A south-westerly wind blew until the early evening and the temperature was cold. At one o’clock this morning the rain had ceased, but the sky remained overcast.
