Otautau Notes

Mrs R. Bird is visiting Gore. Miss Sheedy, Riverton, has been visiting Otautau. Mrs Gutschlag is spending a holiday at Drummond and Invercargill. Miss A. Sheedy is visiting Invercargill and Wyndham. Misses J. and L. Lyon are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. G. Flett, Scotts Gap. Mrs Jeffreys, Otama, was the guest of Mr and Mrs J. Dickson for a few days last week. Mrs W. C. Sinclair, who has been spending a holiday with the Misses Scatter, has returned to Waikaka. Miss I. Kirkpatrick, Wreys Bush, was the guest of Mrs J. G. Flett for the Clouston—Lyon wedding. Misses I. Smellie and A. McCulloch are spending a holiday in Dunedin, and are attending the classes arranged for young members of the Women’s Division by the Otago University Home Science Department.

A number of friends paid a surprise visit to Mrs J. G. Flett's home, Scotts Gap. Those present were Mr and Mrs J. G. Flett, Mr and Mrs T. Flett, Mr and Mrs F. Dahlenburg, Mr and Mrs W. Dahlenburg, Mr and Mrs Cowan; Mesdames J. C. Kane, Coster and Gill (Invercargill); Misses Kirkpatrick (Wreys Bush), Gutschlag, Clothier and Brooker (Otautau), Cowan, Flett, Swap and Coster (2); Messrs S. Clouston, W. Robertson (Fairfax), Swap, Coster and Flett (2).

On the eve of her marriage Miss Ethel Lyons was entertained at a gift evening in the Scotts Gap Hall. Dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Mrs Ridder (piano) and Messrs Ridder and Mack (violins). Extras were played by Messrs H. Philpot (accordion) and Currie (piano). Mr J. C. Kane asked the guest of honour to accept many gifts, at the same time wishing her happiness and prosperity in the future. Mr S. Clouston responded on behalf of Miss Lyons. Among those present were Mr and Mrs J. G. Flett, Mr and Mrs J. C. Kane, Mr and Mrs Currie, Mr and Mrs P. Sheridan, Mr and Mrs A. James, Mr and Mrs T. Brown, Mr and Mrs T. Flett, Mr and Mrs R.
