Coming Out Dance

On Wednesday evening Mrs F. O Mac Gibbon, Forth street, gave a dance in Elmwood Garden when her elder daughter, Miss Ora Mac Gibbon, and Miss Lesley Traill, of Stewart Island, made their debut. Miss Mac Gibbon wore a simple frock of cream Brussels angelskin lace over a deeper cream foundation. The skirt was cut on long closely fitting lines. A circular frill edged with forget-me-nots fell from the off-shoulder decollete. Forget-me-nots formed the narrow shoulder straps. She wore silver shoes and carried a bduquet of freesias, white chrysanthemums and forget-me-nots tied with blue ribbons.

Miss Traill’s frock was of white satin embossed with silver spots. The long train fell from two tiers of waterfall frills at the back of the skirt. Silver beading trimmed the neckline and formed the shouder straps. She, too, wore silver shoes, and her bouquet was of pink carnations and freesias tied with pink ribbons. The guests were Misses Rowena MacGibbon, Marjorie Hutton, Muriel Lindsay, Ray Courtis, Isobel McDonald, Marjorie McDonald, Adele McDonald, Joy McCrostie, Ella Bath, Sheila Macdonald, Barbara Cuthbertson, Jean McCrostie, Matty Parker, Brenda Drewe, Ray Hormann, Adele Bormann, Trixie Edwards, Athol Mackrell, Jo Wyatt, Ina Horne, Florence Stead, Nelsa England, Marjorie McKay, Gem Witt, Gwen Cowie, Moira McGrath, Nancy McPherson, Joyce Boot (Dunedin), Shirley Owen-Johnston, Judith Macalister.
