HOME DEFENCE

ATTITUDE OF GOVERNMENT SOUGHT. (United Press Association.) Masterton, May 21. That a statement should be sought from the Government as to its attitude towards home defence was the opinion expressed by Mr Hugh Morrison, president of the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union. He considered that an interprovincial conference of the Farmers’ Union next week should ask the Government to define its policy. His view was that the Farmers’ Union should riot attempt to lay down any policy, but just ask the Government. It was decided to send a remit on the lines suggested for discussion at the coming conference.
