BADOGLIO TO GO TO HOME
“HOLIDAY LEAVE”
Sanctions Conflict Mentioned
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 9.5 p.m.) London, May 21. A message from Asmara (Eritrea) states that Marshal Badoglio’s son Mario took him by plane from Addis Ababa. The Marshal sails for Rome to-day aboard the hospital ship Arborea. It is officially stated that he is only going on holiday leave, but it is strongly hinted that he is not likely to return, except on a possible visit with Signor Mussolini or King Victor Emmanuel. The Asmara correspondent of the Exchange News Agency says that it is reported that Marshal Badoglio is sailing for Rome on May 25, and that Marshal Graziani is succeeding him, with the title of Regent.
According to a message from Rome i'. is understood that Marshal Badoglio will remain in Italy until the danger of a conflict arising from sanctions has passed. Marshal Graziani will probably be entrusted with the task of the pacification of Abyssinia, in view of his reputation as an “iron hand” in Libya.
