Orepuki FAREWELL SOCIAL
FAMILY DEPARTS A large number of friends gathered to farewell Mr and Mrs Barraclough and their family, who have resided in Orepuki for the past four years. Mr R. W. Pickering presided. Mr H. Garden, on behalf of the Bowling Club, Mr E. J. Weir, for the business people, and Mr Pickering, for the Football and Athletic Clubs, paid a tribute to Mr and Mrs Barraclough. Mr Pickering presented Mr Barraclough with a wallet of notes. Mr Barraclough said that he had always worked harmoniously with the people of Orepuki. Music for a dance was supplied by Messrs Carroll (violin), Houston (violin) and Memphes (piano). Miss M. Carroll played extras. Mr R. I<ee was master of ceremonies. A CARD PARTY A card party at Pahia in aid of the Pahia Sports Association was well attended. The women’s prize was won by Miss Betty Skerrett, and the men’s prize by Mr P. Murphy. Music was supplied by Mrs J. Beaton and W. Mackay, and Mr F. Church was master of ceremonies. BASKETBALL The results of the games in the Waiau Basketball Sub-Association’s competition are as follows:— A Grade—Pahia 14 v. Western Star 6; Orepuki 16 v. Tuatapere 10. B Grade.—Otahu 15 v. Orepuki 7.
