OBITUARY
MR ARTHUR PITTAWAY. The death occurred suddenly at Invercargill yesterday morning of Mr Arthur Pitta way, railways business agent in the Southland district for the past two years. Mr Pittaway was 48 years of age, and was well known in business circles throughout the South Island. For some years after he joined the railways service he was a member of the staff of the district traffic manager’s office in Dunedin, and later was stationmaster at Alexandra, Waipara, and Belfast. Before coming to Invercargill he was stationed at Christchurch. In his youthful days Mr- Pittaway was a keen athlete. He performed prominently on the running track, and played senior Rugby in Dunedin (for the Union Club) for several years. In Invercargill he was/a member of the Waihopai Bowling Club. He leaves a wife and five children. Yesterday afternoon the flags on the railway offices were flown at the halfmast; and at the meeting of the Invercargill Chamber of Commerce a resolution of sympathy with his relatives was passed in the usual manner. Mr G. E. KELLY. The death of Mr George Edwin Kelly occurred while he was engaged in his work at Camerons, West Coast. Mr Kellv, who was the eldest son of Mrs M. A. Kelly, Mokotua, was born at Centre Bush, receiving his education at Limehills School. Later he followed farming until leaving for the Great War, where he served for a lengthy period. He was an enthusiastic member of the Oddfellows’ Lodge. He , leaves a wife and four children.
