WINTON ATHENAEUM
ANNUAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE (From Our Correspondent.) At the annual meeting of the committee of the Winton Athenaeum, the chairman, the Rev. P. J. O’Neill, presided over a fair attendance. The balance-sheet disclosing a satisfactory position was read and adopted, while a vote of thanks to the treasurer, Mr L. Irwin, for the manner in which he had prepared the statement of accounts, was carried. Office-bearers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: President, Rev. P. J. ONeill; vice-presidents, Messrs T. W. Brandford and J. J. Woods; treasurer, Mr L. Irwin; secretary, Miss I. G. Russell; auditor, Mr J. A. Broom; committee, Mr T. Walker, Dr M. Gow, Mesdames W. Balch, J. R. Hamilton, J. B. Melton, N. Metzger, T. N. Mitchell; selection committee, T. W. Brandford, J. J. Woods, Mesdames W. Balch, J. B. Melton, N. Metzger, J. P. Moore. Votes of thanks were carried to the auditor, Mr J. A. Broom, who has acted for a number of years. It was decided to spend £5 this month on new books.
