MOVE FOR CLOSER UNITY

AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND MINERS. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Sydney, February 14. With a view to establishing closer unity between the coalminers of New Zealand and Australia, Mr McLaglan, of New Zealand, attended a conference of the executive of the Coal Miners’ Federation here. Mr McLaglan explained that the financial position of the New Zealand body had improved. The New Zealand miners had been affiliated with the Australian miners for some years but had paid no capitation fees because of unfinancial membership. The meeting decided to impose a capitation fee of 4d a member on New Zealand miners, and agreed to exchange delegates at the alternate annual meetings of those bodies.
