ENGLAND’S WINTER WEATHER
GALE IN SOUTHERN COUNTIES. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, February 10. A strong easterly gale, reaching a velocity of 80 miles an hour, is sweeping Southern England, and the weather is exceptionally cold. At Plymouth incoming vessels report weather of the wildest character in the Atlantic. The sea is rough around all the coasts and harbours and many ships have sought shelter. Weather forecasts predict the continuance of these conditions for several days. There were heavy seas in the English Channel. Two seamen lost their lives when the barge in which they were being towed broke loose near Plymouth and sank.
