COMPULSORY VOTING
ADVOCATED IN CANADA. ORIENTALS AND THE FRANCHISE. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Ottawa. February 10. Compulsory voting, with an election expenses limitation, was advocated by Mr R. B. Bennett in the reply to the speech from the Throne. The trade treaty with the United States was attacked as improvident Mr Angus Maclnnis' (Commonwealth Federation Party) gave notice of a resolution granting the franchise to all Orientals or excluding them. “If the Oriental is good enough to be a resident he is good enough to vote;, if he is not good enough he should be elsewhere,” said Mr Maclnnis.
