BRITISH TREATY WITH EGYPT

INFLUENCE OF PREVIOUS NEGOTIATIONS. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, February 10. Tire Foreign Secretary (Mr, R. A. Eden) was asked at question time in the House of Commons for an assurance that in view of the changed international situation complete freedom of action of his Majesty’s Government in the negotiations for a treaty with Egypt would not be restricted by the terms of earlier draft treaties. Mr Eden replied: “The principle that no government cair be bound by the provisions of an inconclusive previous negotiation is of course well recognized in international practice, and in the present negotiations the application of this principle must naturally be governed by the mutual interests of the two countries.”
