WICKETS FALL

SECOND TEST MATCH AUSTRALIA ALL OUT FOR 250 EXCITING CRICKET (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 12.15 a.m.) Johannesburg. Dec. 2G. The second Test match between Australia and South Africa was continued to-day. The weather was ideal —sunny with a pleasant breeze. The wicket was good. Fifteen thousand spectators cheered Richardson and Darling when they came out to resume batting. The Australians had made IGB for three on Tuesday. Bock narrowly missed getting Darling with his fifth ball, which completely beat the batsman. Langton claimed Richardson with his fifth ball, which broke in sharply from the off. Chipperfield lasted only a few minutes. He was caught by Rowan off Langton when 5. Matters then looked really serious, five wickets being down for 174. The crowd was now on its toes; the batsmen even appeared unsettled. Bock and Langton with an accurate length forced the batsmen to play the bah. Chipperfield had displayed a tendency to play a ball on the leg side. Wade consistently strengthened the leg trap into which Chipperfield fell, Rowan snapping up a low catch. The crowd had by now increased to 18,000. Oldfield, when two, returned a ball hard to Bock, who injured his right hand, Viljoen substituting for him. The crowd’s appetite for excitement was somewhat appeased by a thrilling piece /of work in the field by Langton. Oldfield played a ball hard to mid-off and called for a run. Langton dashed in, picked up the ball perfectly and threw it in like lightning, shattering the wickets with Darling a yard off. Oldfield, when joined by Grimmett, kept the score board moving with singles and an occasional boundary, but he had a couple of narrow escapes. AUSTRALIA. First Innings.
