DROWNED IN DAM

THREE LIVES LOST MOTHER AND TWO CHILDREN RESCUE OF OTHERS (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.40 p.m.) Sydney, December 26. Mrs Florence Angwin, of Leichhardt, and her son and daughter were drowned to-day in a colliery dam at Helensburgh, on the South Coast. A third Angwin child and a woman friend were rescued by several men bathers who heard screams, but they were unable to locate Mrs Angwin and the two children until it was too late. It appears that two members of the party walking on the edge of the dam slipped in. The others immediately entered the water - for the purpose of effecting a rescue and all were in peril at the same moment.
