A. & P. ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF GORE COMMITTEE. SHOW BALANCE-SHEET. A meeting of the committee of the Gore Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held on Saturday. There were present:—Messrs H. P. Mclntyre (president, in the chair), J. Bruce, R. L. Byars, Henry Smith, G. L. Morrison, G. Smith, P. S. Cullen, W. Y. Dickie, J. L. Elder, J. Dickson, G. W. Whittingham, J. Wylie, G. R. Herron, J. E. White, J. A. Edwards, W. G. Ladbrook, R. H. Gardyne, A. J. Cameron, Hugh Smith, M. R. Lawlor and J. Burnett. Messrs J. L. McG. Watson and C. Gilbertson, trustees of the late Reginald MacKinnon, advised that the sum of £l5, together with a silver medal, had been allotted to the association for the year ending August 15, 1936. Mr Allan Galt, of Tuturau, advised that he was giving the association a donation of £5 5/- next year. Advice that W. Y. Dickie and Sons, of Ferndale, had won the gold medal for most points in the Friesian section at the Gore Show was received from Mr J. P. Kalaugher, secretary of the New Zealand Friesian Association. A balance-sheet of the show submitted by the secretary (Mr F. Young) showed that the receipts amounted to £844 1/-. The expenditure was £BB4 5/6. Thus the debit balance was £4O 4/6. The previous year’s debit was £136 18/3, showing that a gain of £96 13/9 had been made. The chairman said the balance-sheet gave every reason for satisfaction. The show had never been run at a profit; that was too difficult. It was uleasing to note the increased amount taken at the gates. Their main strength lay in their membershio. The secretary mentioned that 400 members had already paid their subscriptions and there was reason to look forward to a successful year. As it was the last meeting of the year, seasonal greetings were exchanged between the nresident, the members, the staff and the Press.
