DUNEDIN CITY

PAYMENT OF RATES. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, December 20. The date of payment of rates in the city of Dunedin closed on Thursday night. Mr H. H. Henderson, City Treasurer, states that the total rates struck for the current year amounted to £261,564 and that to-night the amount outstanding was £21,000, or roughly 8 per cent. For the previous year, rates struck totalled £255,825, and on the day following the date of payment, there was £29,000 or 11.3 per cent, outstanding. The position this year must therefore be considered very satisfactory.
