FIRE ON STATION

EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. (Per United Press Association.) Blenheim, December 19. The cookhouse, men’s dining-room, the married quarters, and four adjacent buildings of H. Y. Monro’s Bankhouse Station, were totally destroyed by fire on Tuesday night. The insurances total £5OO. Shearing is still in progress on the station and difficulty is being experienced in providing the 15 shearers with meals, especially as the water tanks fell and smashed the supply pipes. The homestead is half a mile distant from the scene of the fire and was not endangered.
