CHARGE REDUCED

RAILWAY REFRESHMENT ROOMS. HORSE ATTENDANTS NOW FREE. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, December 18. The Government Railways Board has decided that the charge for all meals at railway refreshment rooms is to be reduced from 2/6 to 2/-, said Mr G. H. Mackley, General Manager of Railways, in a statement to-day. The reduction will apply as from Sunday, January 5. Mr Mackley also announced that as from Monday next December 23, racehorse attendants travelling by train to take care of racehorses en route will be carried free, an attendant being allowed for each horse carried. This concession, said Mr Macklay, will be available to all those attendants who, under the existing conditions, have been carried at half fares.
