A peculiar accident occurred to a Blenheim resident recently. She was sitting near a window using her sewing machine when a bumble-bee flew in and made toward her. In the act of inclining her head to dodge the bee the woman managed to slip one of her fingers under the needle of the machine, which sewed several stitches into it before the needle snapped. The use of X-rays had to be resorted to in order to locate the fragment of needle, which was then removed.
