LUCKY INVESTOR
WYNDHAM MAN WINS £2OOO. (From Our Correspondent.) Quite a sensation was caused in Wyndham on Saturday when it became known that a Wyndham business man in Mr Andrew Wyber, master butcher, Balaclava street, had been fortunate enough to be the possessor of the third prize ticket in an Australian consultation, thereby winning £2OOO. Mr Wvber is a single man aged 45. When advice of his good fortune was received by cable, Mr Wyber became by no means wildly excited, as would naturally be expected, perhaps hardly realizing his good luck. After reading the glad tidings he calmly tossed the cablegram to his shop assistant, remarking, “What do you think of that? In conversation with the recipient of £2OOO on Saturday afternoon, he was quite calm and collected and the shock, if any, of the news had apparently vanished. During the course of the interview it was learned that advertising matter had been received by Mr Wyber and he had decided to try his luck. It was the first time he had purchased a ticket in this lottery although he has been a supporter of another one for years. When the advice was received he was at a loss to understand the position, as the purchasing of the ticket had been forgotten. . , , On the inquiry being made as what he intended doing with the Christmas box, the reply was, “I do not know, I will decide when I get it. I have worked hard all, my life and now I can enjoy myself.” The first prize in the lottery was £25,000 and the second £4OOO.
