PARLIAMENT
SESSION IN FEBRUARY ARBITRATION ACT FOR DISCUSSION MAJOR PLANKS IN PLATFORM (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, December 12. When interviewed to-day the Hon. M. J. Savage indicated that Parliament would be called together towards the end of February, when some major planks in the Government’s policy would be put into operation, these including the amendments to the Arbitration Act. It is also probable that authority will be sought for the completion of the Napier-Gisborne railway. He emphasized that there would be no delay in presenting legislation. When the House met it would be ready. Commenting on Parliamentary procedure in general, he said he saw no reason why it should not work the greater part of the year. By this he did not mean that Parliament should actually be in session, but if Parliament met just prior to the Public Accounts being completed, essential business could be done and then if necessary Parliament could adjourn for a month or longer as the situation required. Mr Savage leaves for Auckland early next week and upon his return early in the New Year will get down to the serious business of drafting legislation in readiness for the session.
