Farewell Afternoon
Mrs Price and Mrs Dalrymple gave a pleasant afternoon at “Mindork,” the residence of Mr and Mrs C. P. Dalrymple, recently. The guest of the afternoon was Miss Rita Cartwright,, who has now left the district to undergo her nursing training in the Southland Hospital. Mrs Dalrymple presented Miss Cartwright with a toilet set as a token of the esteem in which she is held by her many friends in both Waianiwa and Spar Bush. Other speakers were Mrs Price, Mrs D. Price and Mr Rodger, who all wished her every success in her work. Miss Cartwright suitably replied. During the afternoon Miss Cockburn sang a solo. Mrs D. Price, on behalf of those present, thanked Mrs Dalrymple for the use of her home and grounds. Among those present were: Mr and Mrs Rodger, Mr and Mrs A. McPherson, Mesdames Price, Dalrymple, Cartwright (5), Hunter, Forrest, Bruland, D. Price and Ewart, Misses Kerr, Cartwright (5), Hunter (2), Ronald (2) (Waianiwa), Stevenson (3) (Waianiwa), Price, Nimmo, Wilson (Waianiwa), Rodger (Waianiwa), McCrostie, Johnston, Cockburn, Robinson (Waianiwa), Whitelaw (2) (Waianiwa), Bisset (Waianiwa), King (Waianiwa), Young, Bruland, McPherson, Grieve and Master Billie Cartwright.
