BALFOUR NOTES
FAREWELL EVENING. (From Our Correspondent.) A farewell in honour of Miss Terry, who has been sole teacher at the Ardlussa School, was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs T. Butler on Thursday evening. The evening was spent in cards and dancing, music for the dance being supplied by Messrs G. Rennie and N. Marshall (accordion) and Mr R. Millar (bagpipes). Mr F. Munro, chairman, called on Mrs T. Butler to present Miss Terry with a bedroom clock from the residents of the district, and Miss F. Munro on behalf of the school children presented Miss Terry with two crystal vases. Other speakers were Messrs T. Butler, McGee, D. Butler, and F. Munro. Mr C. Dillon, in replying on behalf of Miss Terry, thanked the speakers for their kind remarks and all present for the beautiful presents they had presented to her. During the evening Mr D. Butler favoured the company with a song. Personal. Mr and Mrs J. Keir, who have been residents of the district for five years, left on Saturday for their new home at Romahapa. Mr Allan Tregonning has returned from Gore, where he has been staying for the Trinity College Music Examinations. He passed his Licentiate (Practical Work) with honours.
